Brazil has one of the greatest diversities in native fruit trees, but many species, despite the great environmental and economic potential for small farms, are little studied, such as the cherry-of-the-rio-grande (Eugenia involucrata DC.). The hypothesis of this research was that there is a high genetic diversity due to the propagation by seeds, occurring genotypes that produce better quality fruits which can be used to implement genetic improvement programs and the production of seedlings with better productive performance. So, this study aimed to characterize fruits of this species' genotypes and to evaluate the genetic divergence applying multivariate analysis techniques. Genotypes of different ages found in rural and urban areas of the municipality of Serafina Corrêa, Rio Grande do Sul, were evaluated, with 50 genotypes in 2018 and 38 genotypes in 2019, since twelve did not bear fruit. Data were submitted to determine the mean and standard deviation. To assess genetic diversity, the relative contribution of characters was determined by the Singh method; the average Euclidean distance standardized matrix (UPGMA) and dendrograms were generated; and Tocher's optimization method was applied. Results showed that UPGMA and Tocher clustering methods are more efficient in representing the diversity between genotypes. Fruits characteristics varied from one year to another, due to the combination of biotic and abiotic factors (water regime), resulting in changes of characters with greater contribution in the divergence and formation of similar groups. The content of total soluble solids (TSS) in 2018 and fruit mass in 2019 harvest were characters that most contributed to the genetic divergence. It was concluded that the physicochemical characters of fruits revealed the existence of genetic divergence among genotypes, allowing the selection of agronomically superior plants.

Myrciaria floribunda, also known as rumberry, is a tree native to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, where its fruits have the potential for commercial use. This study evaluates the antioxidant potential, determines the phytochemical profile, and chemically characterizes the rumberry fruit. Accessions were sampled from the Rumberry Active Germplasm Bank of the Federal University of Alagoas, Brazil. Physical characteristics, chemical characteristics, and phenolic compound content were analyzed. Chemical profile characterization was carried out using PSMS. Accessions had an average weight of 0.86 g. Accession AC137 presented a higher pulp yield (1.12 g). AC132 and AC156 had larger fruits, AC137 showed greater firmness (5.93 N), and AC160 had a higher and total phenolic content ratio (279.01 ± 11.11). Orange-colored accessions scored higher in evaluated parameters, except for AC160 for phenolic content. Thirty-two compounds were identified on positive ionization mode and 42 compounds on negative ionization mode using PSMS. Flavonoids, followed by the derivatives of benzoic acid, sugars, and phenylpropanoids, were the most prominent. Myricitrin, quercitrin, and catechin stand out as flavonoids that have been reported in previous studies with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, in addition to health and therapeutical benefits, demonstrating the potential of the rumberry fruit.

A espécie Tocoyena sellowiana (Cham. & Schltdl.) K.Schum.), conhecida popularmente por jenipapo-bravo, é utilizada na ornamentação, na produção de artefatos de pesca, possui potencial medicinal e grande importância para a entomofauna local. O estudo de fenologia faz-se essencial para a compreensão da estimativa de produção a fim de se ter um melhor aproveitamento socioeconômico de uma espécie, e também para contribuir na preservação de ecossistemas. Diante disso, o presente estudo objetivou caracterizar a fenologia da floração à frutificação do jenipapo-bravo (Tocoyena sellowiana (Cham. & Schltdl.) K.Schum.). Na área da pesquisa, em São Gonçalo do Amarante-CE, foram marcados ramos em cada uma das dez árvores determinadas, acompanhadas entre os meses de agosto/2020 a julho/2021. Verificou-se que a espécie apresentou inicialmente 101 botões florais em dezembro/2020, dos quais 93,07% entraram em antese nos 38 DAM, levando 7 dias para a fecundação. Os estágios de chumbinho (EC), 1 (E1) e 2 (E2) ocorreram nos 28 DAA, e os estágio 3 (E3), 4 (E4) e 5 (E5), foram observados aos 56, 128 e 182 DAA, respectivamente. Apenas seis frutos conseguiram alcançar o último estágio (E5), resultando em uma taxa de abortamento de 94,06%. Conclui-se que o período de floração ocorreu entre dezembro/2020 a março/2021, resultando em 94 dias; a frutificação aconteceu de fevereiro/2021 a julho/2021, totalizando 154 dias; o estádio de fruto maduro é o 5 (E5), com uma estimativa de produção de 1,2 frutos por planta.Palavras-chave: Jenipapo-bravo, Restinga, flora cearense, Tabuleiro Litorâneo, fenofases reprodutivas. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize the phenology of flowering to fruiting of jenipapo-bravo (Tocoyena sellowiana (Cham. & Schltdl.) K.Schum.). In the research area, in São Gonçalo do Amarante-CE, branches were marked on each of the ten determined trees, followed between the months of August/2020 to July/2021. It was found that the species initially presented 101 floral buds in December/2020, of which 93.07% entered anthesis at 38 DAM, taking 7 days for fecundation. The lead (SL), 1 (S1) and 2 (S2) stages of the fruit occurred at 28 DAA, and stage 3 (S3), 4 (S4) and 5 (S5), were observed at 56, 128 and 182 DAA, respectively. Only six fruits managed to reach the last stage (S5), resulting in an abortion rate of 94.06%.
