Femtosecond Transfer and Manipulation of Persistent Hot-Trion Coherence in a Single CdSe/ZnSe Quantum Dot

Abstract: Ultrafast transmission changes around the fundamental trion resonance are studied after exciting a 𝑝-shell exciton in a negatively charged II-VI quantum dot. The biexcitonic induced absorption reveals quantum beats between hot trion states at 133 GHz. While interband dephasing is dominated by relaxation of the 𝑃shell hole within 390 fs, trionic coherence remains stored in the spin system for 85 ps due to Pauli blocking of the triplet electron. The complex spectro-temporal evolution of transmission is explain… Show more

“…In the time‐resolved dynamics we find an oscillation between absorptive and dispersive behavior, a typical signal for the occurrence of superposition states. [ 40 ] We expect that our theoretical predictions can be measured in heterodyne detection set‐ups used to measure four‐wave‐mixing signals of single QDs [ 41,42 ] or in differential transmission experiments available for single QDs. [ 40,43 ] Being able to provide analytical equations, we give an illustrative and insightful view on the corresponding dynamics and optical signals.…”

“…The local field contribution (second term) is asymmetric and changes its sign from negative at 𝜔 < ω0 to positive at 𝜔 > ω0 . Such dispersive line shapes are known to appear in few-level systems that exhibit additional internal dynamics [28]. We find that all contributions from EID and local field vanish quickly for 𝜏 > 0.…”

“…Taking advantage of the shaper's capability to additionally introduce higher order spectral phase modulation, the trichromatic scheme can be further developed into a powerful tool for coherent control spectroscopy by using sequences of tailored pulses, thus generalizing the concept of 2D spectroscopy. In addition, the tunability of the shaper-generated polarization-controlled multicolor fields makes them attractive for applications in quantum information [222], quantum metrology [109,110,223] and ultrafast nanotechnology [79,178,214,224,225]. In all the experiments reported above, the tailored polarization profile was confined to the (x, y)-plane perpendicular to the propagation direction of the pulse.…”
