“…Studies using saturated potassium iodide solution (SSKI) have shown variable cure efficiency in felines with sporotrichosis (Dunstan et al., 1986; Gonzalez Cabo et al., 1989; Caravalho et al., 1991). Studies using ketoconazole, an anti‐fungal of the imidazole group, used in clinical cases of disseminated cutaneous sporotrichosis by Marques et al.…”

“…The deceased felines had the disseminated cutaneous form and these two showed an extreme physical weakness, whereas one was in apparent good condition at the time of death. Studies using ketoconazole, an anti-fungal of the imidazole group, used in clinical cases of disseminated cutaneous sporotrichosis by Marques et al (1993) and Nobre et al (2001), demonstrated inefficiency for the treatment of mycosis in felines.…”

“…The lesion disappeared after oral administration of ketoconazole [8]. Another report revealed improvement by oral administration of 20% potassium iodide [4]. Iodide is reasonable in cost, but cats show greater susceptibility to the development of toxic side effects from iodides [3].…”
