El presente trabajo muestra el diseño conceptual de la primera misión del Programa Espacial TEPEU, estará basada en el desarrollo de un satélite pequeño de órbita baja con un objetivo doble. Primero, demostrar las capacidades institucionales latinoamericanas para la integración de grupos académicos interdisciplinarios con proyectos afines mediante la planeación, desarrollo y construcción de un satélite tipo Cubesat unitario que orbitará la Tierra, así como la integración de una red de estaciones terrenas basada en infraestructura de radio aficionados para la recepción de datos y telemetría del satélite en órbita. Segundo, desde el punto de vista científico, con las mediciones obtenidas con la instrumentación a bordo, se desarrollarán modelos matemáticos y computacionales que describan fenómenos naturales que ocurren en la tierra y su atmósfera, relacionados con la estimación de fenómenos geofísicos y su correlación con el comportamiento de capas atmosféricas. En el apartado técnico, se trabaja en establecer características de la instrumentación y equipos a implementar, tanto en el segmento espacio como con el segmento tierra. En el segmento espacial, se trabaja en la definición del módulo de carga útil, contendrá sensores comerciales y experimentales, tales como un magnetómetro comercial y una sonda de Langmuir tipo parche, desarrollado en conjunto con el Laboratorio de Exploración Espacial y Planetaria de la Universidad de Chile. En el caso del segmento tierra, se proyecta, en colaboración con la Federación Mexicana de Radio Experimentadores, federaciones y clubes de radio aficionados en América Latina y otros países, la integración de una red de estaciones terrenas.

This paper presents the design and development of an interoperable geoportal service for discovery and management of earth observation products (EOPs). In this service, the geoportal components are encapsulated into virtual containers that are launched into the cloud by using a microservice scheme to solve issues such as interoperability (with other systems) and implementation (over different platforms). A search microservice that analyses the preferences of end-users (settings of spatiotemporal and polygon shapes) and builds clusters of users sharing preferences was included into the geoportal for recommending/delivering, in advance, products matching with end-user preferences. The geoportal service also enables end-users to organize EOPs on-the-fly by using spatiotemporal parameters. A prototype of this service was implemented in a private cloud and connected to a satellite imagery repository of an antenna (ERIS) managed by Mexican Space Agency in a proof of concept. This article presents the design and implementation of a reliable computing virtual container‐based model with integrity verification for data processing strategies named the reliability and integrity verification (RIV) scheme. It has been integrated into a system construction model as well as existing workflow engines (e.g., Kulla and Makeflow) for composing in‐memory systems. In the RIV scheme, the reliability (R) component is in charge of providing an implicit fault tolerance mechanism for the processes of data acquisition and storage that take place in a data processing system. The integrity verification (IV) component is in charge of ensuring that data transmitted/received between two processing stages are correct and are not modified during the transmission process. To show the feasibility of using the RIV scheme, real‐world applications were created by using different distributed and parallel systems to solve use cases of satellite and medical imagery processing. This evaluation revealed encouraging results as some solutions that assumed the cost (overhead) of using the RIV scheme, for example, Kulla (the Kulla‐RIV solution), achieve better response times than others without the RIV scheme (e.g., Makeflow) that remain exposed to the risks caused by to the lack of RIV strategies.
