“…Notably, FMT was performed in 18 patients with persistent positive HBeAg. 104 FMT was effective for these patients via inducing HBeAg clearance, suggesting that regulating intestinal microbiota might be beneficial to chronic hepatitis B treatment. A Phase I clinical trial demonstrated that FMT restored antibiotic-induced microbial dysbiosis in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis.…”

“…FMT led to rapid amelioration of appetite and hyperbilirubinemia. Notably, FMT was performed in 18 patients with persistent positive HBeAg . “…Interestingly, although FMT from healthy donors often bring about a good result to receipts, when comparing receipts gut microbiota before and after FMT and check the similarity to the donors' gut microbiota, it found that the receipts gut microbiota was obviously changed by FMT, however, the similarity of the receipts' gut microbiota after FMT to the donor's was not as high as expected, especially when the receipts were not germ-free subjects like human or SPF animals. 38 This may attribute to colonization ability of the microbes, some may easy to win out in the competition with intrinsical microbes or set down in the receipts' gut, some may not easy to win an ecological niche.…”

“…It has been indicated that chronic HBV patients with liver cirrhosis have different microbiota compared to healthy people (112, 113). A recent case-controlled, open-label pilot trial has demonstrated the efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in HBV e-antigen positive patients, especially in those who could not otherwise cease the oral antiviral treatment even after long-term treatment (115). This suggests a benefit from modifying the gut microbiota for chronic HBV treatment, however, larger trials will be needed to draw a definite conclusion in the future.…”
