Fecal microbiota transplantation from HUC-MSC-treated mice alleviates acute lung injury in mice through anti-inflammation and gut microbiota modulation

Feng Hua,
Enhai Cui,
Lu Lv
et al.

Abstract: IntroductionAcute lung injury (ALI) is a severe respiratory tract disorder facilitated by dysregulated inflammation, oxidative stress and intestinal ecosystem. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a rapid method for gut microbiota (GM) reconstruction. Furthermore, our previous studies have confirmed that human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells (HUC-MSCs) can alleviate ALI by improving GM composition. Therefore, we aimed to explore the efficacy and mechanism of FMT from HUC-MSCs-treated mice on ALI.… Show more

“…Hua et al have showed that the down-regulation of occludin resulted in intestinal barrier impairment. The decrease in occludin expression level is driven by inflammation, antibiotic interventions, and exposure to endotoxins such as LPS, all of which disrupt the TJ among IECs (Hua et al, 2023). The present findings are consistent with this, demonstrating that the combined induction of antibiotics and LPS significantly decreased occludin gene and protein expression in the ileal tissues of mice.…”
