Features of the blood supply to the breast in the context of reduction mammoplasty

Abstract: The blood supply to the nipple-areola complex of hypertrophied mammary glands is variable and unpredictable in each patient who is planned to undergo reduction mammoplasty. The review provides historical aspects and modern views on reduction mammoplasty and the study of blood supply to hypertrophied mammary glands. The emphasis is also placed on the importance of preoperative diagnostics of the peculiarities of blood supply to the nipple-areola complex.
