Features of the behavior of longitudinal static and dynamic dielectric, piezoelectric, and elastic characteristics of KH2PO4 and NH4H2PO4 crystals

Abstract: Abstract-Along with their electromechanical coupling coefficients, the longitudinal dielectric, piezoelec tric and elastic characteristics in ferroelectric KH 2 PO 4 and antiferroelectric NH 4 H 2 PO 4 crystals are calcu lated using a modified proton ordering model that considers piezoelectric coupling and the four particle clus ter approximation. The possibility of detecting piezoactivity in solid solutions of K 1 -x (NH 4 ) x H 2 PO 4 is sub stantiated.

“…1–3 Among the many types of piezoelectric crystal materials, phosphate piezoelectric crystals are the ones that were developed earlier, such as AlPO 4 , 4,5 GaPO 4 , 6–8 and NH 4 H 2 PO 4 (ADP). 9,10 AlPO 4 and GaPO 4 have the same structure as the quartz crystal (α-SiO 2 ), but the piezoelectric constants and electromechanical coupling coefficients are significantly larger than those of the quartz crystal, so they are considered to be ideal substitutes for the quartz crystal. The ADP single crystal is easily grown and has a large piezoelectric constant, so it is widely studied and applied.…”
