Features of optical properties of high stable CdTe photovoltaic absorber layer

Abstract: In this paper, the technology of obtaining and effect of annealing on the morphology and optical properties of cadmium telluride thin films has been investigated. The effect of vacuum chamber modes on the growth of thin films has been studied. For obtained cadmium telluride thin films were used a modified thermal evaporation method deposited by Physical Vapor Deposition technique on a glass substrate with different thicknesses. The transmission measurements were carried with UV-ViS-NIR Spectrophotomete… Show more

“…7 shows the simulation results for CdS/CdTe heterostructure, where the best CdTe layer thickness was determined and set to 3 μm, while the thickness of CdS layer was varied in the range of 10-100 nm. The efficiency values of 15.87%(system including defects) and 18.08%(defect-free system) were obtained, which is consistent with the results presented in the article [18].…”

“…In [18], the influence of technological parameters of PVD deposition on the optical characteristics of thin films was studied. In addition, for CdS/CdTe system, the optimal thicknesses were determined to achieve the maximum photoelectric efficiency of such a heterostructure as a photoelectric cell.…”

“…The application of this method is based on the calculation of the maximum TM (λ) and minimum T m (λ) of the transmission curve by parabolic interpolation to the experimentally determined positions of the maxima and minima. Similar calculations were carried out by the authors [42][43][44] for CdTe thin films, which shows the effect of the deposition technology on the morphology and optical properties of cadmium telluride thin films, as well as on the growth processes of thin films.…”

“…In UV-vis spectra, the CdTe-TGA NCs reveal a characteristic absorption feature due to the lowest-energy interband transition and near-bandgap (excitonic) PL (Figure 1a), which are strongly shifted toward shorter wavelengths with respect to the fundamental absorption edge of bulk CdTe (820 nm) [35,36]. The mean NC size can be evaluated from the spectral position of the step-like feature in UV-vis spectrum, which is related with the lowest-energy transition between the discrete/quantized electronic states in the NCs.…”
