Abstract:The efficacy of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) treatment and the incidence of adverse events differ among patients and depend to some extent on individual variations in drug catabolism. This feasibility study aimed to determine the optimum conditions for a 5-FU oral load test, which would allow the simple evaluation of individual differences in 5-FU catabolism. Patients with colon cancer were given oral 5-FU (200 mg/day) for 3 days (n = 36) or a single 100 mg dose (n = 14). Serum concentrations of uracil, dihydrouracil… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
