“…One of three single‐group studies detected small postintervention within‐group effects on measures of sedentary behavior (Cohen's d = 0.26 to 0.31, P < .05) . Two of three single‐group studies assessed but did not detect follow‐up effects . Only one study was identified to have the lowest risk for bias (Cochrane Risk for Bias score = 4) and did not detect statistically significant effects on total level of daily physical activity.…”

“…In the study by Effing et al (2011) on 153 clients with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) in the Netherlands, improved exercise capacity and improved exercise behaviour were reported after one year of community-based physiotherapeutic treatment. In another study by community physiotherapists in the United States (Sullivan et al, 2014), the use of pedometers for 6 weeks enhanced satisfaction and improved activity in chronic stroke clients. Physiotherapy intervention through workshops and postural training for the community of underprivileged school children in India proved beneficial in fostering better ergonomics and postures (Rajan and Koti, 2013a).…”

“…Previous studies on stroke survivors measured the duration of motor activity by video-taping or based on the therapist’s report [914]; whereas few studies quantified the amount of practice during stroke rehabilitation [4101516]. Pedometers are wearable devices that provide useful information on physical activity [17] and they can also be used in stroke survivors [18] to detect daily step activity [1] or to assist in the community-based walking program [19]. The specific aims of this study were (1) to explore the volume of practice and progression during 120 minutes of TOCT and to assess their possible correlation with locomotor function improvements; (2) to test the use of pedometer- and observation-based measures in detecting step activity during TOCT.…”
