Feasibility analysis of standalone PV powered battery using SEN for Smart Grid

Abstract: In Smart Grid (SG) communication network, sensors integrated communication radios namely ZigBee, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth are becoming urgent and crucial part of SG wireless communication. Sensor nodes are generally battery powered. With the enhancement and huge utilization of sensor technologies, batteries have not been improved significantly at the same pace. However, batteries are essential to power the sensor nodes and there is no alternative of this energy bank. Therefore, to provide seamless power to… Show more

“…If the structure becomes thick, the resonance can trap the electromagnetic energy, where all electromagnetic wave is absorbed and converted into the dissipated heat. The generating heat can be then controlled and detected in many ways [43]- [46] such as external diodes in electromagnetic energy harvesting, photoconductive antennas. (2)…”

“…However, it has a number of limitations and challenges. Firstly, the limited lifetime of batteries leads to the problem that devices need to be replaced frequently when the battery is exhausted [5,6] . This not only increases the maintenance costs, but also may lead to device downtime during battery replacement, thus increasing the risk of power network failure.…”

“…In addition, ZigBeePRO protocol supports more than 65000 nodes with extended battery life compared to either WiFi (>1000 nodes) or Bluetooth (7 nodes). An extensive discussion on the most influential feature of ZigBeePRO for distributed solar energy monitoring as applied to the field of smart grid can be found in these authors' works [2,32,33].…”
