[Fe3O4@SiO2@(CH2)3im]C6F5O as a New Hydrophilic and Task‐Specific Nanomagnetic Catalyst: Application for Synthesis of β‐Azido Alcohols and Thiiranes under Mild and Green Conditions

Abstract: [Fe3O4@SiO2@(CH2)3im]C6F5O was designed, synthesized and characterized by various techniques such as Fourier transform spectroscopy infrared (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffraction patterns (XRD), Field scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The described novel hydrophilic nanomagnetic particles were applied as an efficient and reusable catalyst in the ring opening of epoxides using sodium azide for th… Show more

“…The FT‐IR spectrum of [Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 (CH 2 ) 3 ][DABCO‐H][C(CN) 3 ] 2 is revealed in Figure 1. The peak, which is observed at 587 cm −1 , is related to the Fe−O bonds in the structure of magnetic nanoparticles [51] . The peak related to the bend nanoparticles mode of CH 2 in the structure of DABCO appeared in 1462 cm −1 .…”

“…The peak related to the bend nanoparticles mode of CH 2 in the structure of DABCO appeared in 1462 cm −1 . The sharp and broad peak at 1102 cm −1 is corresponded to Si−O−Si bonds stretching in the structure of silica [51] . Another peak, which is appeared at 2173 cm −1 , is related to the CN functional group.…”

“…Although preparation of water dispersible MNPs through surface modification with hydrophilic groups have been pursued by many research groups for bio-related applications, [22][23][24] there are few articles on the synthesis of magnetically recyclable water-dispersible catalysts and their applications in organic transformations in neat water. [25][26][27] Therefore, there is still much room for developing new magnetically recyclable water-dispersible catalysts in pure aqueous media. The palladium-catalyzed C-C cross-coupling reactions of aryl halides and organometallic reagents have been developed to produce symmetric and asymmetric biaryl compounds.…”

“…This allows that reactions can be accomplished in pure water under near homogeneous conditions and also allows catalyst separation from the reaction mixture easily using an external magnetic field. Although the fabrication of water dispersible MNPs by the surface modification with hydrophilic groups have been followed by numerous chemists for biorelated usages, there are few articles on the synthesis of magnetically recyclable water-dispersible catalysts and their applications in organic transformations in neat water. Therefore, there is still much demand for developing new magnetically isolable water-dispersible catalysts in pure water. In the line of our recent efforts toward the development of the greener catalyzed reactions, herein, we have synthesized a novel water-dispersible/magnetically recyclable Pd heterogeneous catalyst (Pd-γ-Fe 2 O 3 -2-ATP-TEG-MME, Scheme ) and characterized it by different methods.…”
