We also wanted to know if the national food regulator (Food Standards Australia New Zealand, FSANZ) would also be perceived as trustworthy and credible, as, unlike the USA where the FDA is well known (Rowlands & Hoadley, 2006), FSANZ has an unknown public profile. Non-government organisations (NGO or health charities) are also known to evoke trust and credibility, indeed the NGO chosen, the National Heart Foundation, for this study ''endorses" products as ''heart healthy" (a ''tick" symbol) which is widely respected throughout the Australian community (Noakes & Crawford, 1991).…”
