Favourable pregnancy results with insemination of in vitro matured oocytes from unstimulated patients

Abstract: Insemination of IVM oocytes functions well, resulting in comparable pregnancy rates per IOC between IVM-IVF and IVM-ICSI. Good pregnancy results can be achieved both in patients with regular cycles and with PCO(S) by transferring only one or two embryos at a time.

“…IVM reported success rates vary considerably among services [1,2,4,8,11,17,18,19,21]. It is acknowledged that the methodology for IVM of oocytes collected from unstimulated ovaries and embryo development is still not ideal [12].…”

“…Likewise, in normally ovulating women the single most important factor that may affect the IVM outcome is the number of available oocytes which, if inadequately small, can deny the possibility to select embryos from a larger cohort [45,46].…”

“…In brief, it seems that IVM is less effective than conventional IVF (8). In IVF, up to 59% of delivery rates have been achieved after fresh and subsequent frozen embryo transfers (16), whereas in IVM, delivery rates of 13% to 15% have been achieved (17,18). In some studies, the lower rates of pregnancy were attributed to lower quality of endometrium for implantation (19), which may be critical in assisted reproductive technology results (20).…”
