Fault plane of the Chile earthquake, December 7, 1953

Abstract

To show the value of reflected waves in the fault-plane method a solution is given for the Chile earthquake of December 7, 1953. Data from pP recordings and to a lesser extent from PP recordings are of great importance in obtaining a satisfactory solution. No attempt is made to correlate the results with structure. Transcurrent faulting is found.
