Fault Diagnosis of Broken Rotor Bars in Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor of Hoister Based on Duffing Oscillator and Multifractal Dimension

Abstract: This paper is to propose a novel fault diagnosis method for broken rotor bars in squirrel-cage induction motor of hoister, which is based on duffing oscillator and multifractal dimension. Firstly, based on the analysis of the structure and performance of modified duffing oscillator, the end of transitional slope from chaotic area to large-scale cycle area is selected as the optimal critical threshold of duffing oscillator by bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponent. Secondly, the phase transformation duffing… Show more

“…[3] Chaotic systems are different from the traditional methods in that they are immune to noise and sensitive to a specific signal, which means that they are particularly suitable for weak signal detection under noisy conditions. [4][5][6][7] The Duffing oscillator is one of the classic nonlinear systems that have been extensively studied for weak signal detection. [8][9][10][11] In addition, many researchers have investigated the combination of Duffing oscillators and other detection methods for weak signal detection with positive results.…”

“…The Duffing oscillator is comprehensively investigated for many cases like: free vibrations [17,18]; a single harmonic force excitation [17,18,19,20]; a force excitation that contains two harmonics with equal [21] or similar [22] frequencies; an excitation that contains a harmonic force and a noise [23]; and a piece-wise force excitation. In [23], the application of weak signal detection based on chaotic oscillator is studied.…”
