Fault Current Allocation by the Least-Squares Method

Abstract: This letter contains the analysis of the increase of fault current due to the installation of distributed resources or merchant plants. An index called the average change of fault (ACF) current is proposed. The ACF can be applied to indicate the contribution of the increase of fault current and to allocate the responsibility of system upgrades among the owners of distributed resources.
