“…The results of the study showed that participants with depressive disorder always experienced multiple somatic symptoms simultaneously, regardless of whether they were in the onset or remission period, which confirmed the findings of other studies (Novick et al, 2015;Perugi et al, 2011). We identified 37 somatic symptoms from the interview data, some of which have been reported in quantitative studies, such as weakness (Barak et al, 2020), dizziness (Teixeira et al, 2016), body pain (Kawamura et al, 2013), sleep disorders, gastrointestinal discomfort, etc., while other symptoms hardly appear in literature, such as abnormal blood pressure, skin ecchymosis, or heavy eyelids. This may illustrate that, as subjective experiences, somatic symptoms differ according to patients' perception and understanding.…”
