Fatigue failure and GrmsN curve of corrugated paperboard box

Abstract: As a kind of transport packaging, the corrugated paperboard box is widely used in logistics. During transport, the stacked packaging units are subjected to random vibration induced by vehicles. Thus, the random dynamic force will be exerted to corrugated paperboard box continuously. As the shipping distance increases, there will be cumulative fatigue damage within the corrugated paperboard box, which will weaken the mechanical property (stiffness) and the protective value of the corrugated paperboard box. Ther… Show more

“…The authors acknowledge that more work is required to deal with non-linear materials and where the excitation is non-Gaussian such as the occurrence of shocks and impacts. This approach was subsequently applied to a paperboard box 40 excited with Gaussian random vibrations. From this the authors showed that the rms-life curve of the corrugated paperboard box could be obtained experimentally and described by both the Basquin model and an exponential function.…”

“…Gan et al [17] used the random average method to establish FPK equation for the packaging system with cubic nonlinear stiffness under stochastic excitation. Wang et al [18] established a vibration model of the mass-spring-damping system by considering two stiffnesses of the system and the constraint condition under acceleration random excitation in order to evaluate fatigue failure of the packaging paperboard box. e scholars always consider nonlinear stiffness of the packaging system following the unidirectional function relation, such as cubic unidirectional function relation.…”

“…The proposed methods can be applied to facilitate the vibration absorption design for product transport system. A vibration model of SMD system considering two stiffnesses of the system and the constraint condition under acceleration random excitation was established by Wang et al 20 in order to evaluate fatigue failure of packaging paperboard box.…”
