“…Since the host-specific populations represent a small group within the general Bacteroidales population (Bernhard and Field, 2000;Lamendella et al, 2007), a dPCR method was adopted for the microbial source tracking experiment to achieve a higher level of sensitivity (Milbury et al, 2014). dPCR is commonly used in environmental research (Amoah et al, 2022;Guérin-Rechdaoui et al, 2022;Rumky et al, 2022) and due to the inherent nature of dPCR, the assay has a high tolerance to biological inhibitors and has better performance on trace detection for a minority target (Milbury et al, 2014;Perkins et al, 2017).…”

“…At the Rochester WRP, influent wastewater was composited daily based on a flow weighting sampling regime. An average sampling rate of 188 mL/h was used to composite a total daily sample of 4.5 L. From Feb/2021 to May/2021 two times per week and from June/2021 to Dec/2022, four times per week, influent composite samples were clarified by centrifugation and 2 × 40 mL aliquots were stored at 4 °C [ 23 ] at WRP water chemistry lab prior to being delivered to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Byron and Stewartville samples were also flow-weighted samples that were collected by Rochester staff and centrifuged/stored at the WRP water chemistry lab.…”

“…On the other hand, Frutos et al (2022a) published the paper “Origin of COVID-19: Dismissing the Mojiang mine theory and the laboratory accident narrative”, complemented by a second one ( Frutos et al, 2022b ), entitled “ There is no “origin” to SARS-CoV-2”. In turn, He et al (2022) tryed to answer the question “Is the virus-laden standing water change the transmission intensity of SARS-CoV-2 after precipitation?” , while Guérin-Rechdaoui et al (2022) assessed the fate of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in wastewater treatment sludge during storage and thermophilic anaerobic digestion. Finally, to close the present VSI, Domingo (2022) published an updated review of the scientific literature on the origin of SARS-CoV-2.…”
