As a typical Information-Centric Networking solution, Publish-Subscribe Internet Technology (PUR-SUIT) presents a flexible networking architecture for the domain based content management and source-routing based content addressing. However, with the development of mobile Internet, how to extend PURSUIT for supporting efficient and scalable mobility management is vital for its actual deployment. In this paper, we propose a new mobility management scheme for both a subscriber and a publisher in a PURSUIT architecture. The proposed scheme is based on a proxy, which is dynamically selected in a distributed manner at the branching point. A network based fast handover procedure is also integrated to guarantee a mobile user's better handover experience in the proposed scheme. Based on our designed analytic model, the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can reduce the handover latency compared with that in the basic PURSUIT case. Besides, the required handover preparation time and the induced extra signaling cost are also analyzed.

Low handover delay ensures seamless mobility of active communication flows across heterogeneous wireless networks. Handover delay resulting from hostbased localized mobility management procedures remains high and unacceptable for real time applications. This paper, therefore, proposes an IEEE 802.21 assisted network-based localized mobility management framework to further reduce handover delay by optimizing the authentication delay. Through analytical evaluation and comparison of the handover delay performance for basic network-based and hostbased localized schemes, we show that our proposed scheme performs better in terms of reducing handover delay.

The LTE (Long Term Evolution) technologies defined by 3GPP is the last step toward the 4th generation (4G) of radio technologies designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone networks. Mobility management for supporting seamless handover is the key issue for the next generation wireless communication networks. The evolved packet core (EPC) standard adopts the proxy mobile IPv6 protocol (PMIPv6) to provide the mobility mechanisms. However, the PMIPv6 still suffers the high handoff delay and the large packet lost. Our protocol provides a new secure handover protocol to reduce handoff delay and packet lost with the assistance of relay nodes over LTE networks. In this paper, we consider the security issue when selecting relay nodes during the handoff procedure. During the relay node discovery, we extend the access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF) in 3GPP specifications to help mobile station or UE to obtain the information of relay nodes. With the aid of the relay nodes, the mobile station or UE performs the pre-handover procedure, including the security operation and the proxy binding update to significantly reduce the handover latency and packet loss. The simulation results illustrate that our proposed protocol actually achieves the performance improvements in the handoff delay time and the packet loss rate.
