Fast-Fourier-Transform Enhanced Progressive Singular-Value-Decomposition Algorithm in Double Diagnostic Window Frame for Weak Arc Fault Detection

Abstract: In this study, a novel method that progressively applies the fastest form of singular-value decomposition (SVD) to extract nonperiodic arc-fault features is proposed in order to pursue a competent solution for AC weak arc fault detection. First, bus-current signals of the normal state and the arc-fault state are collected and normalized before being processed by progressive SVD (PSVD) to detect the discrepancy brought by comparatively stronger arc-fault nonperiodic components expressed in singular values. To p… Show more

“…Several studies have investigated different aspects of fault occurrence events in power systems, namely, the equipment part [1,2], improved efficiency of the power system [3]. Moreover, some papers have presented novel methods like the fast Fourier transform (FFT) [4], discrete wavelet transform (DWT) [5], fuzzy logic [6,7] etc. to solve the issues associated with these events.…”

“…According to the result of literatures reviewed [1–22], it is found that previous research mostly focused on low‐voltage capacitor bank, in which a capacitor unit was less than 20 units. Meanwhile, there is rarely research that focused on high‐voltage capacitor bank, in which capacitor units connected inside the bank were more than 100 units.…”
