Fast and robust population transfer with a Josephson qutrit via shortcut to adiabaticity

Abstract: We propose an effective scheme to implement fast and robust population transfer with a Josephson qutrit via shortcut to adiabaticity. Facilitated by the level-transition rule, a Λ-configuration resonant interaction can be realized between microwave drivings and the qutrit with sufficient level anharmonicity, from which we perform the reversible population transfers via invariant-based shortcut. Compared with the detuned drivings, the utilized resonant drivings shorten the transfer times significantly. Further … Show more

“…Compared with the previous case, [40] the strategy could broaden the avenue to investigate dissipative dynamics with superconducting systems. (iii) In contrast to the method of invariant-based STA, [43] Rabi couplings Ω p,s (behaving as Gaussian functions of time) and the ancillary driving Ω a (having the smooth and continuous waveform) are readily generated in our scenario, which are beneficial to precisely implement quantum operations.…”

“…Through two symmetric Josephson junctions (with the identical coupling energies E J and capacitances C J ), the CPB is connected to a segment of a superconducting ring. In the charge-phase regime, [42,43] the characteristic system parameters E J and E c have the same order of magnitude, E J ∼ E c . The CPB is biased by a static bias voltage V d through a gate capacitance C d .…”

“…On the other hand, from the viewpoint of fast and robust coherent control, the * Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. mitigation of decoherence effects is highly desirable in the context of quantum information processing [12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. Physically, since the decoherence rate of qubit is fixed in general case, the decoherence effect degrades as the duration time gets reduced.…”
