Fast and precise global maximum power point tracking techniques for photovoltaic system

Abstract: The multiple power peaks obtained in the power-voltage (P-V) curve of a photovoltaic string under partially shaded condition results in a complicated maximum power point tracking (MPPT) process. Under this condition, the conventional MPPT methods are not acknowledged as they result in false and slow tracking. In this study three novel global MPPT (GMPPT) methods have been proposed and validated. These are named as large and small duty step (LSDS), large and mutable duty step (LMDS) and fast and intelligent GMP… Show more

“…The many methods of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) are employed and extract the maximum amount of power. 7 A research study analyzes the similarities and contrasts between the perturb and observe-based (P&O) and the incremental conductance (INC) approaches. Several different sophisticated MPPT algorithms can be used in instances with partial shading that is published in the literature.…”

“…Several different sophisticated MPPT algorithms can be used in instances with partial shading that is published in the literature. 3,7,8 This manuscript considers a constant PV irradiance and an enhanced INC (EINC)-based approach is employed to generate the appropriate switching signals for a step-up converter to carry MPPT. PV is the leading RES; however, interfacing it with a shunt active power filter (SAPF) in the power grid to inject electrical power into the grid will minimize the harmonic current present on the source side and compensate present in load reactive power.…”

“…Furthermore, when PV panels are partially shaded, instead of an MPP, there are multiple MPPs. erefore, conventional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms such as Incremental conductance (INC), Perturb and Observe (P&O), and Ripple Current Control (RCC) [2][3][4][5][6] get trapped into local MPPs when Partial Shading condition (PSC) occurs. In fact, these methods are effective in uniform irradiance.…”
