Abstract

Depending on the affected craniofacial structures, facial asymmetry can be divided into skeletal, dental and functional asymetry. Some asymmetrical disorders can, besides being an aesthetic problem, negatively affect mouth-teeth and jaw functions. For the exact localization of the asymmetrical structures and to determine the cause and extent of the asymmetry, it is helpful to use other diagnostic aids such as study models, face bow transfer and various imaging procedures. The Nervus Alveolaris Inferior is of great importance for physicians, especially when performing operations in the posterior region of the lower jaw in orthodontic jaw surgery.
