Farms Productivity Developments Based on Malmquist Production Indices

Abstract: The aim of the article was to evaluate production efficiency changes of agricultural enterprises specialized in livestock production and identify its determinants. The total factor productivity (TFP) was used to analyse the changes as determined by the DEA Malmquist index. Evaluated sample contained panel data of 440 farms (114 organic and 326 conventional) based on FADN survey in the period 2011 -2015.The results showed very little difference in technical efficiency between groups and relatively negligible ch… Show more

“…The marginal effect of educational access in Nigeria was positive in the savannah zones, suggesting that people with higher education also work on the farms. This finding was supported by Quiroga et al (2017) and Kostlivý et al (2017). “…Agricultural productivity returns on public spending in European countries are enormous (De Olde, Sautier & Whitehead, 2020). The increase in enhanced agricultural productivity in developed countries derives from more intensive input use, advanced modern use of agricultural technology (which is highly funded), efficiency, managerial skills and organization of production (European Commission, 2016b;Kostlivy, Fuksová & Dubec, 2017;Quiroga, Suárez, Fernández-Haddad & Philippidis, 2017;Svilokos, Vojinić & Tolić, 2019).…”

“…Malmquistov index našiel v domácom prostredí uplatnenie aj pri skúmaní iných výskumných úloh, napr. Raguseo a Kuvíková (2010) sa zameriavali na vývoj v neziskovom sektore a Kostlivý et al (2017) skúmali vývoj v produktivite fariem. Do tohto prostredia smeroval aj záujem Baležentisa (2015), ktorý ale aplikoval Färeho-Primontov index produktivity.…”
