“…These findings are in line with other research that indicates that IT is associated with a greater willingness to make economic sacrifices for the environment and with less frequent informal EB, but it is unrelated to formal behaviour (Taniguchi & Marshall, 2018). Also, individuals in countries with higher GT averages are less willing to sacrifice for the environment, and those in countries with higher averages of IT are more willing to do so (Jönsson, 2020;Moon, 2017;Taniguchi & Marshall, 2018;Wu et al, 2022). Thus, low IT can hinder pro-environmental behaviours and sustainability efforts.…”

“…In the same vein, the H1.2, the interactions between CCA, quality-of-life perceptions, IT and EB are complex and multifaceted. While IT appears to play a critical role in reinforcing the positive impact of CCA on quality-of-life perceptions and encouraging financial contributions to environmental causes, the literature also suggests that the dynamics of trust and environmental action can vary significantly across contexts and individual motivations (Wu et al, 2022). Researchers argue that high levels of institutional distrust may not necessarily discourage EB if individuals are motivated by strong personal norms or scepticism towards institutions leads them to take matters into their own hands.…”
