Fargobawlers: James Joyce and Ford Madox Ford

Abstract: Ford Madox Ford and James Joyce worked to make way for what was new in literature. They were fargobawlers, clearers of the way, promoting their own work as well as that of others. Both the events of their lives and the intertextuality of their fiction demonstrate a closer and friendlier relationship between them than has formerly been realized.
