FAPMIC: Fake Packet and Selective Packet Drops Attacks Mitigation by Merkle Hash Tree in Intermittently Connected Networks

Abstract: Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTNs) are a special category of IntermittentlyCon-nectedNetworks (ICNs). It has features such as long-delay, frequent-disruption, asymmetrical-data-rates, and high-bundle-error-rates. DTNs have been mainly developed for planet-to-planet networks, commonly known as Inter-Planetary-Networks (IPNs). However, DTNs have shown undimmed potency in challenged communication networks, such as DakNet, ZebraNet, KioskNet and WiderNet. Due to unique characteristics (Intermittent-connecti… Show more

“…Researchers have previously examined the critical analysis in [17], [18], and [19]. Different schemes given in [20] and [21], were ignored because they rely on learning phases during network operations. It has a great deal of potential for improvement for scenarios with unknown schedules, current routing techniques only function well on their respective domains [22].…”

“…The core principle of Opp-Nets is to store, carry, and forward data along a dynamic trajectory toward its ultimate destination. However, it is worth noting that Opp-Nets frequently grapple with the issue of substantial latency [9]. Numerous applications are converging around the concept of Opp-Nets, like crisis management, wildlife monitoring, transportation engineering, pocket-switched networks, and disaster management.…”
