False Anastomotic Aneurysms

Abstract: This retrospective study covers the period from 1991 to 2002, during which 3,623 patients were operated on because of aneurysmal or occlusive disease of aortoiliac and femoropopliteal segments. Among them, 87 patients (2.4%) developed a false anastomotic aneurysm in the 12-year follow-up period and were treated operatively. Most frequently, in 53 patients (6.9%), a false anastomotic aneurysm developed after aortobifemoral bypass performed owing to aortoiliac occlusive disease. The cause of false anastomotic an… Show more

“…After classically sutured femoral artery anastomoses false anastomotic aneurysms occur in almost 7% of cases. 19 The excellent mid-term results of endograft connector sutureless anastomoses in other settings have been confirmed by our group. 20e22 In all anastomoses we used Viabahn endografts (Viabahn, Gore Inc., Flagstaff, AZ, USA).…”

“…eine Mikroembolie wurde jeweils bei 0,7 % der NA diagnostiziert. Im Patientenkollektiv von Marković et al betrug die Infektionsrate 24,7 % mit einer resultierenden Blutungskomplikationsrate von 29,9 % [19]. Die genannten wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse unterstreichen dabei deutlich die Bedeutung eines wirksamen postoperativen Dispensaires (fachspezifische klinische und bildgebende Verlaufskontrolle).…”

“…[8,9] Despite the mortality rate following aorto-bifemoral bypass procedures decreased during the last decades, the patency rate did not change. [10] Furthermore, graft infection (mortality rate varies from 25% to 88%) [11] , false aneurysms [12] and neointimal hyperplasia [13] did not diminish during last decades.…”
