A utilização de modelos estatísticos na estimação de tamanho de parcela experimental é prática que contribui no planejamento experimental com escolha de tamanho que propicie melhor eficiência na comparação dos tratamentos. Este trabalho teve por objetivo apresentação de alguns modelos com a finalidade de coloca-los como alternativas na determinação do tamanho ótimo de parcelas em experimentos. Foram propostos alguns modelos não lineares com configuração simples e semelhante à do modelo proposto pela técnica da máxima curvatura modificada, os quais são deriváveis e possuindo função de curvatura. Foi obtida a função de curvatura para cada modelo e por meio do ponto crítico da derivada da função de curvatura obtiveram-se os estimadores do tamanho da parcela. Os modelos se mostraram viáveis para serem utilizados na estimação de tamanho de parcelas com estimadores mais simples do que aquele obtido por Meier e Lessman. Como ilustração, para aplicação da proposta e compará-los com o método da máxima curvatura modificado foram utilizados dados de dois ensaios de uniformidade.

-With the aim of establishing critical ranges for the leaf nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) levels in fertigated coffee crops under production, an experiment was carried out in the experimental area of the Sector for Coffee Cultivation of the Department of Agriculture at the Federal University of Lavras, in Brazil. Treatments consisted of five levels of fertilizer applied through fertigation: 30%, 80%, 130%, 180% and 230% of the recommended amounts of N and K for rainfed coffee grown in Minas Gerais. A randomised block design with four replications was used. -The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the effects of the interference by Urochloa brizantha on coffee seedlings inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. A randomized block design and a 4 x 2 layout was used, where factor A was constituted by seedlings inoculated with Rhizophagus clarus, Claroideoglomus etunicatum and Dentiscutata heterogama, as well as some that were not inoculated, and factor B, constituted by plants in competition or alone. The sowing was conducted on washed sand to produce the coffee seedlings, which, during the matchstick stage, were transplanted into polyethylene bags, and inoculated when showing six pairs of leafs. Then, they were transplanted into pots where they were subjected to interference from two plants of U. brizantha for 90 days, during which time their growth and nutrient accumulation were evaluated on the leaves. As a result, an interaction between the following factors was observed: plant height, leaf area, shoot dry weight, dry weight for roots and P, Mg and Zn content in coffee seedlings. The damaging effect on the growth and P accumulation caused by the weed was reduced in coffee seedlings inoculated with mycorrhiza. Another conclusion was that the inoculation factor increases the competitive power of coffee seedlings.
