Failure Mechanism and Stability Control Technology of Slope during Open-Pit Combing Underground Extraction: A Case Study from Shanxi Province of China

Abstract: With the development of society, the demand for mineral resources is gradually increasing, and the current situation of decreasing total resources dictates the inevitable interaction between open-pit combing underground extraction (OPUG) in time and space. In this research, we took the Anjialing coal mine in Shanxi Province of China as a case study, and tested the physical and mechanical properties of coal rocks in the laboratory. The similarity criterion was used to build a similar experimental model for the … Show more

“…The stability problems of rock masses, such as slope instability and mining subsidence, also exhibit significant differences compared to those under single mining conditions [4][5][6][7]. Shi et al [8] took the Anjialing Coal Mine in Shanxi Province as an example to test the physical and mechanical properties of coal and rock in the laboratory. The similarity criterion is used to establish a similar experimental model of slope deformation evolution in an open-pit mine section, and the digital scattering method is used to test the influence of underground mining process parameters on the deformation evolution of an open-pit mine slope.…”

“…Wang et al [7], through similar simulation tests, summarized that the deformation evolution of slopes under underground coal mining has three stages: surface modification, structural modification, and time-dependent deformation. Ding et al [8] and Shi et al [9], focusing on the Anjialing coal mine, established a FLAC3D numerical analysis model and a similar test model to investigate the mechanical behavior of overlying strata and the deformation process of slopes during coal mining, respectively.…”

“…With the application of remote sensing techniques, surface deformation monitoring using high-resolution satellite data has been widely used and it can well realize the monitoring over a very large area. Many related studies have been carried out on surface deformation such as deformation in volcanoes [1], glacier movement [6][7][8][9][10], landslides [4,[11][12][13], permafrost [14], land subsidence [15,16], deformation in mining areas [5,[17][18][19][20] or other geohazards detections [2,[21][22][23][24]. A variety of approaches using interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) or space-borne differential InSAR have been used for the monitoring of mining-induced displacements in many mining areas [5].…”
