Oncological failure and physical exercise: a systematic review ABSTRACT Cancer is a complex disease in which metabolic, immunological, and genetic problems are crucial for hormonal dysregulation, favoring the growth of defective cells. Cancer treatment is accompanied by side effects that generate significant health impacts, among them, the most mentioned by patients is fatigue, persisting after treatment. This review aimed to verify in the literature how the intervention of physical exercises can affect the fatigue of cancer patients. For this, we searched for original articles, in which after inclusion and exclusion criteria, nine studies were selected. Only two studies showed no significant reduction in fatigue in cancer patients. The literature presents several positive biochemical changes in cancer patients submitted to physical exercise. It turns out that these two studies did not meet the minimum weekly recommendations for physical exercise, which may explain these negative results, since the other seven studies had good results, and the protocols were closer to the recommendations. Therefore, it is concluded that physical training is a good way to reduce fatigue and other side effects in cancer patients.
