Abstract:SynopsisDiscrepancies were discovered in current nursing and pharmacology references regarding the mixture of two forms of insulin for administration. The standards used for mixing modified and non-modified insulins were surveyed among 59 nursing faculty in a large university. Results indicated that 16 (27. 6 ~ ) expected students to draw up regular insulin first; 11 (19. 0 %) to draw up modified first; 14 (24.1 ~ ) to refer to agency protocol; and 7 (12.1 %) to use two separate syringes.
