Factors of home dream recall: a structural equation model

Abstract: SUMMAR Y Previous research has indicated that personality factors such as openness to experience, creativity, visual memory, attitude toward dreams, and sleep behavior is related to home dream recall frequency (DRF). However, a study investigating all areas simultaneously within one sample in order to determine the percentage of variance explained by all variables and to take intercorrelations between the influencing factors into account has not been performed till now. The present study with 444 participants … Show more

“…Furthermore, sample selection is likely to be biased by participants' attitude towards dreams. Indeed, lack of motivation and interest towards dreaming was found to discriminate non-dreamers (Schredl et al, 2003) and can bias any study in the field. Third, given the different perspective of dream and fantasy reports, judges who scored them may have gained implicit knowledge of the narrative transcripts' origin.…”

“…The automatic analyses of the included respiratory parameters were corrected by additional visual scoring, whereas the periodic limb movement indices are based on automatic analysis only. The healthy control groups completed the scales (dream recall frequency and nightmare frequency) as participants in different non-laboratory sleep studies [23,24].…”
