Factors influencing the success of information systems in flood early warning and response systems context

Abstract: Flash flood is a natural disaster that often occurs after heavy rain, and it is getting more common nowadays. The flood early warning and response system (FEWRS) can be installed to minimize the level of damage and the number of casualties due to flood by providing accurate and reliable flood data. Unfortunately, the existing number of studies detailing on the factors affecting the efficiency of FEWRS in flood disaster is quite limited. The above issue is addressed in the current work, which involves conductin… Show more

“…The proposed integration will overcome the limitations of the present early warning and response systems such as the unavailability of information and intelligence [9]; insufficient information sharing [107][108][109][110]; lack of coordination among agencies [111,112]; false early warnings [113]; lack of allocation of resources for responses [111]; and delayed responses [114], which often result in a crisis escalation and a higher numbers of causalities.…”

“…The key contributing factors for such increased losses have been recognised as population growth and rapid urbanisation [7,8]. Many researchers [6,9] have asserted that such losses and causalities can be significantly reduced by implementing an effective Flood Early Warning and Response Systems (FEWRS). In this regard, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) emphasises the need for the availability of multi-hazard warning systems and disaster risk information to the community by the end of 2030 [10] (p. 12).…”

“…WOM is particularly important in marketing and e-commerce since intangible products are difficult to judge before consumption (Reza Jalilvand & Samiei, 2012). They provide more information about the product to help make a more informed decision (Hammood et al, 2020;Talwar et al, 2021). According to Park and Nicolau (2015), they are seen to be crucial empirical information cues.…”
