Factors Associated with the Timeliness of Electronic Nursing Documentation

Abstract: ObjectivesTo investigate the factors associated with the timeliness of electronic nursing documentation using the entry time on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.MethodsAs a retrospective study, data were extracted from January 1 to February 28, 2014 from a hospital EMR system and a nurses’ personnel information system. “…A study conducted by Khani et al ( 2016 ) revealed that fatigue, large number of patients, high volume of nursing actions, lack of continuous monitoring and evaluation, lack of reward system to staff by nursing management were important factors affecting nursing records in hospitals. Ahn, Choi and Kim ( 2016 ) also identified that work experience of nurses and nature of nursing shifts are other factors that influence timeous record-keeping in public hospitals.
