Aims: To investigate the change and associated factors of care needs within 6 months post-discharge in older people with hospital-associated disability, and the relationship between time-varying care needs and physical function.Background: Older people with hospital-associated disability will have various care needs post-discharge. Understanding their care needs will help to improve their health. However, studies on this population are still limited.Design: A longitudinal study. Methods:The older people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected in 2 tertiary hospitals in Zhejiang Province, China. The questionnaire survey method was used to collect data about socio-demographic characteristics, physical function and care needs. The data of 375 older people who completed follow-up were analysed using logistic regression analysis, generalised estimating equations and generalised additive mixed model. We followed STROBE checklist for reporting the study. Results:The care needs of the older people with hospital-associated disability declined unevenly, it decreased rapidly in the first three months, and then flattening out. The percentage of people with care needs in each dimension decreased over time, but daily care and rehabilitation needs were consistently more important. Sociodemographic factors and physical function had different effects on need at different time points, the physical function was the main factor among them. There were non-linear relationships between the physical function and different care needs with different inflection points. Conclusion:This research revealed change patterns of the care needs of older people with hospital-associated disability post-discharge and the non-linear relationship between physical function and care needs. These findings may help healthcare professionals and caregivers to provide accurate care.

The ageing of the population has resulted in an increase in the demand for long-term care services for older people, but with limited resources, its challenges have also been highlighted. Although factors affecting the willingness of older people to engage with long-term care services have been widely reported, however, systematic review has not synthesised the evidence, and its associated factors remain unclear. This systematic review aims to study and synthesise the best available evidence on the potential factors related to the willingness of older people to engage with longterm care services. Eight electronic databases were comprehensively searched from inception to January 2021: the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, Wanfang Database, China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI), Weipu Database (VIP), and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM). The original literatures were screened according to selection criteria. Two researchers used 11-item checklist recommended by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to evaluate the quality of the included literatures. And the review used narrative synthesis tointegrate factors related to the willingness of older people to engage with long-term care services. In total, 7794 studies were screened and 35 studies were included in this review. Among them, 23 studies were rated as moderate quality and 12 was high quality. Data synthesis identified that age, education, number of children, living arrangements, the relationship with children, primary caregivers, place of residence, social support, household income, medical insurance, activities of daily living ability and spiritual comfort should all be taken into account when establishing the appropriate long-term care service model or formulating relevant policies. However, many factors remain undetermined and require more rigorous original literature support. And multiple areas can be also considered in the future studies, especially psychological factors.

Purpose Adjusting to nursing homes contributes to successful aging in older adults. However, the effect of stress on psychological adjustment in nursing home residents is unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the relationship between stress and psychological adjustment among nursing home residents. Methods This was a cross-sectional, multicenter survey. A total of 386 residents from 11 nursing homes were included in the study. Bootstrapping with resampling strategies was used to examine multiple mediators and the moderator effect. This research conforms with the STROBE checklist. Results Path analysis demonstrated that stress directly negatively predicted the psychological adjustment of nursing home residents. It also indirectly predicted psychological adjustment through the mediating role of learned resourcefulness and self-efficacy, as well as the chain mediating role of both. Social support played a moderating role in the path of stress to learned resourcefulness. Conclusion This study revealed the mechanism underlying the effect of stress on psychological adjustment in nursing home residents without cognitive impairment and walking difficulties. It further suggests that health providers could enhance older adults' learned resourcefulness, self-efficacy, and social support to assist them in adjusting to nursing home life.
