Abstract:Acetylation is an important post‐translational modification (PTM). Aberrant acetylation, or deacetylation, has been linked to cancer, diabetes, neurodegeneration and auto‐immune disorders. Lysine acetylation is a reversible PTM, where deacetylation is catalyzed by histone deacetylases. Histone deacetylase function is crucial for a properly functioning cell, yet information about the specific biological pathways regulated by each isozyme is limited. HDAC1 is especially intriguing due to its known involvement in… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
