Climate change has adverse effects on agriculture, decreasing crop quality and productivity. This makes it necessary to implement adaptation and mitigation strategies that contribute to the maintenance of technical efficiency (TE). This study analyzed the relationship of TE with farmers’ mitigation and adaptation action preferences, their risk and environmental attitudes, and their perception of climate change. Through the stochastic frontier method, TE levels were estimated for 370 farmers in Northwest Mexico. The results showed the average efficiency levels (57%) for three identified groups of farmers: High TE (15% of farmers), average TE (72%), and low TE (13%). Our results showed a relationship between two of the preferred adaptation actions against climate change estimated using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method. The most efficient farmers preferred “change crops,” while less efficient farmers preferred “invest in irrigation infrastructure.” The anthropocentric environmental attitude inferred from the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) scale was related to the level of TE. Efficient farmers were those with an anthropocentric environmental attitude, compared to less efficient farmers, who exhibited an ecocentric attitude. The climate change issues were more perceived by moderately efficient farmers. These findings set out a roadmap for policy-makers to face climate change at the regional level.

En el siguiente artículo propone el uso de las herramientas de Análisis de Componentes Principales (PCA) y Análisis Envolvente de Datos (DEA) como una metodología para el análisis, medición y clasificación de la eficiencia académica de los estudiantes con los resultados de las pruebas Saber Pro en Colombia. La base de datos utilizada pertenece a los resultados de las pruebas saber PRO del año 2018 provenientes del Instituto Colombiano para la Evaluación de la Educación (ICFES). En los resultados se presenta que solo 16.67% del grupo de estudio son eficientes, con estas unidades se forman 15 grupos de referencia, por otro lado, las unidades no eficientes deben reforzar las competencias de Comunicación Escrita (CE) y Pensamiento Científico, Matemático y Estadístico (PCME).

As long as it is competitive worldwide the Agribusiness in Colombia is called to become a strategic axis for the economic development of the regions and national productivity. The agribusiness sector of specific processed foods in oil companies and bakery companies were declared by Productive Colombia 2 as sectors with world-class potential for its high valueadded component.This project aims to become a tool to support the strategic decision-making process in this type of companies. The purpose it was to determine the factors that influenced the efficiency of the processed food companies in Colombia of oil and bakery during the 2015-2018 period through a data envelopment analysis (DEA) and bootstrap techniques as a strategy for strength of competitiveness. Forty-nine palm oil extraction companies, 17 vegetable oil companies (non-palm oil) and 50 bakery products manufacturing companies were analyzed.The results demonstrated the need to improve business efficiency in each of the sectors by optimizing resources and reducing costs. The factors that most influenced the efficiency results were: 1) consumer distrust, 2) informality, 3) low educational levels, 4) price instability, 5) currency fluctuations, 6) weather conditions, 7) pests, 8) tax reform and 9) political uncertainty.
