Factor Affecting Textile Dye Removal Using Adsorbent From Activated Carbon: A Review

Abstract: Abstract. Industrial company such as textile, leather, cosmetics, paper and plastic generated wastewater containing large amount of dye colour. The removal of dye materials are importance as the presence of this kind of pollutant influence the quality of water and makes it aesthetically unpleasant. As their chemical structures are complicated, it is difficult to treat dyes with municipal waste treatment operations. Even a small quantity of dye does cause high visibility and undesirability. There have been vari… Show more

“…The percentage of color removal increased with the dosage and contact time. This observation is logical because an increase in adsorbent dosage provides more active sites as well as oxygen functional groups for efficient adsorbate removal; this finding agrees with related reports [72,73]. Also, the pictorial views of the untreated and treated effluent at various adsorbent dosages of microwave-irradiated and H 2 SO 4 –microwave-treated POMB-retained ash are presented in Figure 8a,b, respectively.…”

“…Such physicochemical parameters are the adsorbent/adsorptive interaction, the surface chemistry and pore structure of the adsorbent, particle size, nature of the adsorbent, presence of other ions in the aqueous solution, pH, temperature, pressure, and contact time. The properties of the adsorbate, its molecular weight, molecular structure, molecular size and polarity should also be taken into account [38,146]. In a batch process, the mixing speed of the aqueous suspension may affect the time required to remove the contaminant.…”
