Facile fabrication of mesopore-containing ZSM-5 zeolite from spent zeolite catalyst for methanol to propylene reaction

Abstract: A facile and eco-friendly approach for the synthesis of mesoporecontaining ZSM-5 zeolite with small crystal size was proposed by subtly making use of a coke-deposited spent zeolite catalyst. When used in the methanol to propylene reaction again, the refabricated ZSM-5 catalyst exhibited a much higher propylene selectivity and a longer catalytic lifetime. † Electronic supplementary information (ESI) available: Experimental details on the synthesis and characterization of zeolite, physicochemical properties of th… Show more

“…The catalyst was a kind of ZSM-5 molecular sieve based catalyst with mesopore developed by China University of Petroleum. The preparation method of the catalyst is reported in the literature [25,26], and its main physicochemical properties are listed in Table 1. The main properties of the used ZSM-5 molecular sieve were as follows.…”

“…Moreover, high solid product yield is an important factor regarding scaling up issue and reflects the success of synthesis technique in comparison with other one-pot synthesis trends. It is worth mentioning that in our procedure more than 100 gr of zeolite can be synthesized employing silicalite-1 suspension containing 5 gr of tetrapropylammonium bromide; a tremendous quantity that cannot be obtained employing conventional one-step procedures [24][25][26]. According to Table 2, around 10% of obtainable zeolite product from consecutive synthesis procedure can be produced using same molar composition in one-step synthesis procedure considering same solid yield.…”

“…15). 305 Several electrocatalysts for the reduction of CO 2 have been developed, 306 including metal nanoparticles and oxides, chalcogenides and carbon based materials, and their activity was optimized via modification of their defect density on their surface, 302,307-309 particle size, 310 morphology, 311,312 and electrode thickness. 313 Another important issue contributing to the sluggish kinetics of CO 2 reduction is the insufficient concentration of CO 2 on the surface of the catalyst layer.…”
