“…However, this is not what we observed for c-MoS 2 , because it showed a lower COF compared to other MoS 2 materials. In our case, conductive MoS 2 is in the +4 oxidation state in the bulk, whereas at the edges, MoS 2 first formed +6 oxidation states followed by reduction of the +5 oxidation state upon exposure of hydrogen peroxide . Hence, the edge reduction by hydrogen peroxide in conductive MoS 2 may contribute to lowering the COF of c-MoS 2 .…”

“…While graphene is helpful for various applications, producing high-quality graphene is a challenging, expensive, and complex process. Fortunately, graphene research has enabled the exploration of many new 2D materials such as molybdenum disulfide, , black phosphorus, and transition metal oxides . However, in the past few years, a layered structure of transition metal carbides and nitrides had emerged as a new family of 2D materials due to their excellent electrical conductivity, chemical stability, and hardness. , These materials are commonly known as MXenes.…”

“…In recent decades, transition metal sulfides (TMSs), such as MoS 2 , 4–10 VS 2 , 11–15 CoS 2 , 2,16–20 NiS 2 (ref. 2, 7, 15, 21 and 22) have been attracting attention from researchers and industry practitioners.…”
