Abstract:Protein tyrosine sulfation is a key post‐translational modification that mediates various critical functions, such as HIV entry, inflammation, coagulation, and sterility. Tyrosine O‐sulfation is catalyzed by membrane‐associated tyrosylprotein sulfotransferase (TPST, EC 2.8.2.20), which is responsible for the sulfation of secreted and transmembrane proteins. The sulfated proteins are generally attained from tissue extraction, chemical synthesis, and enzymatic catalysis. Enzymatic catalysis provides direct, spec… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
