Facial soft tissue augmentation with Artecoll®: A review of eight years of clinical experience in 153 patients

Abstract: Based on the authors' experience, Artecoll is a safe, viable option for long-term treatment of deep facial wrinkles, nasal asymmetry, hypoplastic or atrophic lips, and depressed acne scars, and the results have been accompanied by a high degree of patient satisfaction. Although the implant is often palpable, rarely does it cause significant visible lumps. Its use and applications as a semipermanent injectable agent certainly warrant further investigation.

“…Thus, the average age of Chinese women in our study was 32 AE 5 years, compared with the average age of 45 AE 8 years of women in Europe and the United States who received botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, or Artecoll. 34 Ayoung face is rounded and firm, and the older face becomes longer and wrinkled and tends to sag. Using fillers at the right time provides women between 30 and 50 years with an additional decade of healthy look and self-confidence.…”

“…The Arnett analysis in soft tissue could provide a tool to optimally analyze and correct esthetic disharmonies. Assuming that, the soft‐tissue Arnett analysis points have been used in this study, to perform clinical measurements . Taking as reference the true vertical line (TVL), a line running from the subnasal point in NHP, we monitored the sagittal pre‐ and posttreatment distance of the following soft‐tissue points: Forehead (F), Glabella (Gb), Nasion (Na), Nasal dorsum (Nd), Nasal tip (Nt), Subnasal (Sn), Upper lip anterior (ULA), Lower lip anterior (LLA), Soft‐tissue point B (B), Pogonion (Pg), and Gnathion (Gn) (Figure ).…”

We use the FACE-Q Satisfaction with Facial Appearance ( Figure S1).…”

“…Methacrill and Metrex are also PMMA particles though not round and polished. Although granulomas are rare with 0.01% reported (Cohen et al, ; Solomon, Sklar, & Zener, ) they do occur and are difficult to treat (Haneke, ). Lumps often form, particularly in the lips, but most are just palpable and not visible.…”
