Fabrication of Textured Bi3NbTiO9 Ceramics

Abstract: Highly textured Bi 3 NbTiO 9 ceramics are fabricated by normal sintering from molten salt-synthesized plate-like crystallites. Fine Bi 3 NbTiO 9 plate-like crystallites (B1 lm) not only facilitate the densification, but also enhance texture in Bi 3 NbTiO 9 ceramics. Weak-agglomerated platelets exhibit higher sinterability and can be densified at a temperature as low as 10001C, which is about 1001C lower than that of equiaxed powders prepared by directly calcining Bi 3 NbTiO 9 precursor. Meanwhile, the orientat… Show more

“…To uncover the underlying mechanism for the large doping level effect of resistivity, complex impedance plots of NBT‐0 and NBT‐0.04 ceramics at the temperature range from 400‐600°C are given in Figure 8. As can be seen, two semicircles can be observed at every measured temperature for the pristine NBT sample, which is consistent with the previous report 10 . The left semicircle can be attributed to the contribution of grains, and the right semicircle is contributed by grain boundary effect 36 .…”

“…Bismuth titanate niobate (Bi 3 TiNbO 9 , NBT), a member belonging to the BLSFs, possessing a very high T C (~913°C), is deemed as one of the rare candidates that can be utilized at temperatures above 600°C. However, similar to other BLSFs ceramics, the pristine NBT exhibits a very low d 33 (<7 pC/N) and relatively low resistivity (6.90 × 10 4 Ω·cm at 600°C) 9,10 . Great efforts need to be paid to realize its practical application.…”

“…According to above analyzed results, crystallites in S1 are partially oriented with the c ‐axis while that of S2 are randomly oriented. The crystalline orientation in S1 may lead to higher dielectric constant, which was also found in other materials, such as BNT ceramics …”
