Fabrication of Sb3+sensor based on 1,1′-(-(naphthalene-2,3-diylbis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(naphthalen-2-ol)/nafion/glassy carbon electrode assembly by electrochemical approach

Abstract: A new Schiff base named 1,1′-(-(naphthalene-2,3-diylbis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(naphthalen-2-ol) (NDNA) was synthesized by condensation reaction and then characterized by spectroscopic techniques for structure elucidation.

“…The absence of OH vibration is attributed to the existence of the intramolecular hydrogen bond between OH and CH=N and S-S (Scheme 3), as it will be emphasized further below in 1 H NMR and single-crystal data. This IR attribution is in accordance with a similar Schiff base reported earlier [14,15,55]. The stretching vibration frequency of aromatic disulfide (S-S) appears at 449 cm −1 as similarly reported [56].…”

“…The proton NMR data reveals the imine protons as a singlet at 9.45 ppm and OH groups as singlet downfield at 14.95 ppm because of the existence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds that increase the acidity of OH groups. Furthermore, the formation of such intramolecular hydrogen bonds near aromatic moieties may deshield the OH groups by magnetic anisotropic effect [14,15]. Other protons with their coupling constants are nicely correlated, and the total number of protons are presented per the chemical structure of ATNA.…”

“…The possible interaction on bonding mechanism between Co +2 ions and copolymer 8 e was explained in this Scheme 1. As obtained, the current response of the copolymer 8 e fabricated GCE was increased (π-π as well as π-π* interaction) with the increasing of Co +2 ionic concentration in the bulk solution, however similar phenomena for toxic chemical detection have also been reported earlier [48][49][50][51][52][53][54][55]. For a low concentration of Co +2 ions in buffer medium, there was a smaller surface coverage of Co +2 ions on copolymer 8 e /binder/GCE and hence the surface reaction proceeds steadily.…”

“…Recently, Rahman and co-workers have synthesized a new Salophen Schiff base that exhibited higher sensitivity and selectivity towards Sb 3+ in the presence of other interfering heavy metal cations. 23 In this contribution, we aim to explore and explain the crucial role of unconventional (chelate ring) π•••π and H-bonding interactions in the self-assembly of a new copper(II) complex. We have synthesized and X-ray characterized a N 2 O 2 donor Schiff base blocking ligand, H 2 L = 6,6'-((1E,1'E)-(ethane-1,2diylbis(azaneylylidene))bis(methaneylylidene))bis(3 (diethylamino)phenol) (Scheme 1) and we have used it to synthesize a mononuclear copper(II) complex.…”
