Abstract: Abstract:In this study, a high energy conversion efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) was successfully fabricated by attaching a double anti-reflection (AR) layer which is composed of a subwavelength moth-eye structured polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) film and a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film. Owing to its contribution to carbon emission reduction, green energy has received widespread attention. Among green energy sources, solar energy is regarded as the most important. In solar energy production, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been favored owing to their characteristics of simple manufacturing and high efficiency as a third-generation solar cell technology. DSSCs are prospective candidates for powering indoor Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In this study, to find a method to enhance DSSCs’ efficiency, the advantages and disadvantages of the screen printing method and the mechanical pressing and annealing method were analyzed. Using an improved method, a TiO2 photoanode was processed and annealed, and the DSSCs with the photoanode showed an efficiency increase from 1.10 to 4.78%.

Surface anti-reflection (AR) with nanometer-scaled texture has shown excellent light trapping performance involving optical devices. In this work, we developed a simple and lithography-free structure replication process to obtain large scale surface cup-shaped nano-pillar (CSNP) arrays for the first time. A method of depositing was used for pattern transfer based on PMMA pre-coated through-hole anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) thin film (~500 nm), and eventually, the uniformity of the transferred nanostructures was guaranteed. From the spectrum (250 nm~2000 nm) dependent measurements, the CSNP nanostructured Si showed excellent AR performance when compared with that of the single-polished Si. Moreover, the CSNP was found to be polarization insensitive and less dependent on incidence angles (≤80°) over the whole spectrum. To further prove the excellent antireflective properties of the CSNP structure, thin film solar cell models were built and studied. The maximum value of Jph for CSNP solar cells shows obvious improvement comparing with that of the cylinder, cone and parabola structured ones. Specifically, in comparison with the optimized Si3N4 thin film solar cell, an increment of 54.64% has been achieved for the CSNP thin film solar cell.

A Centrifugal-Force-Driven Nano-Replication Strategy

The replication of nano-patterns is a significant means of nanomanufacturing. However, there is still a dearth of nano-replication methods that meet the requirements of both high precision and low cost. Therefore, a new strategy to achieve the replication of nano-patterns, namely centrifugal-force-driven nano-replication (CFDNR), is proposed here. An easily obtained centrifugal force which is perpendicular to the plane of a nanostructured template is designed as a driving power, to compel the dynamic polymer to fully fill the space of the template; then, the nano-pattern can be replicated on a polymer film. Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates with nanohole periods of ~450 nm and ~100 nm were employed as the original masters to investigate the nano-replication behaviors. The results of morphology measurements demonstrate excellent precision. The size deviations between the nanohole in the template and the nanopillar on the polymer film are less than 4%. Furthermore, a vacuum-assisted CFDNR scheme is proposed to prevent the formation of cavitation on the polymer replica. This work provides new possibilities and choices for facile, inexpensive and high-precision nanomanufacturing.
