Fabrication of Polymer Langmuir−Blodgett Films Containing Regioregular Poly(3-hexylthiophene) for Application to Field-Effect Transistor

Abstract: Semiconducting thin films consisting of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (RR-PHT) and poly(N-dodecylacrylamide) (pDDA) were constructed by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. A mixture of RR-PHT and pDDA spread from a chloroform solution on a water surface forms a stable monolayer, which can be transferred onto solid substrates by the LB method, yielding a well-defined polymer LB film. Surface morphology studies of the LB film indicate that the RR-PHT is dispersed uniformly throughout the surface. The pol… Show more

“…We have tried to fabricate PHT LB film using pDDA nanosheet. 81 A mixture of RR-PHT and pDDA at various mixture ratios were spread onto the water surface to discuss the formation of those monolayer properties. Spreading a chloroform solution containing a pDDA/ RR-PHT mixture onto the water surface results in formation of a uniform mixed polymer nano-sheet.…”

“…[2][3][4][5][6] This functional polymer is viewed as potentially useful materials in fieldeffect transistors, optical and electronic sensors, light-emitting devices, nonlinear optical materials, etc. [7][8][9] Our attention has focused on colloidal dispersions of P3HT particles. Colloidal particles are of great importance due to their interesting physical properties as well as their potential technological applications.…”
